A Man Set Apart: Daniel 11 (Daily Devo)
We are approaching the end of Daniel. Daniel 11 is hard to understand without an in depth look at history. The things Daniel saw and said would happen in chapter 11, did happen and many believe the last events of chapter 11 (around verse 36) have yet to happen. It may be important to just reiterate to your family that God’s Word can be trusted, and his promises and plans will be fulfilled. (The ESV study Bible or app has a great breakdown of the history and the fulfillment of Daniel 11).
As our family has been going through these more mysterious chapters (much like this week), I have ended up spending more time on the weekly catechism questions than usual. I’ve been trying to ask questions and dissect each piece a little.
I love these simple tools that give us a starting point to have a theological discussion with my family. Last week our family talked a lot about the Holy Spirit and what he does:
- Convict us of sin
- Help us to pray
- Help us to understand God’s word
But using a catechism isn’t a biblical command. It’s just a tool. In fact, having a family worship time (a “daily devo”) is not a biblical command. But it’s one tool that we can use inside of the broader scriptural principle of “bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”
